Sage Sheep Best Life Practices
Living Your Best Life
I have read many books and magazines on finding happiness. There is no one formula fits all since people are all so different, however I found many commonalities that can help you find the best way to experience life. In order to live your life in an enjoyable manner, it is easiest if you know your best practices. Each person will have different “best practices”. I feel my best if I do yoga, meditate, drink a green smoothie, run and get 8 hours of sleep every day. I do not succeed in hitting all of these practices every day – but it gives me a goal. If I have a few extra minutes, I will work in some yoga instead of logging into FB – partly because I love being able to check off my list of goals for the day. In addition to your “best practices”, many people thrive if they feel well – financially, mentally and physically, have connection with people, appreciate what they have, have a purpose, practice mindfulness, create art, learn, and have the opportunity to help others.
Your first goal is to figure out what 5 daily practices make you feel the best. You probably already know what makes you feel your best- you may just need a push to commit to these practices. Do you need to drink 40 oz of water, avoid sodas, exercise 30 minutes, call your sister, meet up with friends once per month, save x amount of money, meditate, get 8 hours of sleep, work toward a goal, volunteer, make art, read, avoid sugar, or whatever you have noticed makes your feel good. Areas to consider:
Physical Health – eat right, exercise, keep doctor appointments, get enough sleep
Mental Health – meditate (see more info on creating a ZEN ZONE below), control your stress (don’t eliminate – but manage), be organized to make the day easier, learn new things
Connection – with real people – conversate, give compliments, meet with, chat with
Purpose – something to wake up for – what drives you
Gratitude – appreciate what you have today
Experiences – more valuable and memorable than “things” – you can keep your memories on your deathbed with you
Creation – good for your brain, give away products, a form of meditation, make something with others
Looking Forward – goals, ambitions, don’t dwell on the past
Review each day to see if you connected with people, appreciated any great moments, learned anything new, and also figure out what you are looking forward to. It helps you be mindful about each day and encourages you to live your best life.
You can use our worksheet – just fill in your 5 best practices -then keep copying the sheet for use in keeping track of your progress. Connect with us through the form below – and we will email you back the .pdf worksheet. As you examine each day and how you felt, it will encourage you to live each day mindfully – thinking about you are doing and whether it serves you well. It is never too late to make changes.
