Enjoying the Journey
We had been following the rules – get a job, find your life partner, buy a house, pay the mortgage, pay the bills, watch tv, eat, sleep, repeat. Finally we realized this was no way to live because we weren’t really LIVING -just existing. At one point, I said I feel like I’m sitting around waiting to die. We had always admired the artisans and travelers who threw caution to the wind, gave up their corporate jobs to follow their passion. We are now working on really LIVING our lives. We ditched the TV and have started volunteering and connecting with real live people.
Starving Artists
Ok, we aren’t actually starving, but only because we try to live very minimally – in a less than 1000 sq ft 90 year old house and we install elevators and stairlifts to help people stay in their homes. We love making projects inspired by our adventures and using found or recycled objects. We also help homeless and the working poor create an income through artwork in our program REAP.LOVE. We welcome you to shop our store for one of a kind gifts! Or shop sage sheep designs on RedBubble. Here are some pictures of our work. We also invite requests – if you are looking for a particular piece, we might just be able to make it for you! We usually work with metal and wood – and love multi-media projects.
Recent Adventures
We try to experience life as much as we can. We want to meet new people and encourage other people to get out and live their best life – whatever their passions may be. You can see where we have been, what we have done and who we have met.
Sage Sheep #1 Tip For Traveling
Don’t miss out on opportunities! We wanted sticky rice in Thailand, but we only saw it at the open air market – unwrapped packed in a bamboo shoot – with flies buzzing everywhere. The first time at the market, we did not jump on this opportunity to get sticky rice due to our first world fears of open food and flies – and we never could find any anywhere else. The second time we were close to the market, I had to literally run 1.5 miles from a bus stop to buy the sticky rice and then back before the bus left again – but it was SO worth it!
Travel
Back before COVID, we had planned to spend 3 months in Europe – but how can you afford that you may ask? Workaway!! We were going to trade 4-5 hours of work per day for room and board. Since we are vegan, we chose Workaway stays that are vegan friendly. You can search for your particular skills and preferences on the Workaway site.
